What You’ll Do
The family lawyer will be responsible for all aspects of family law litigation and will:

• Handle a high caseload of family law cases from start to finish
• Conduct potential client interviews and develop strategies for each case
• Prepare cases for mediation, hearings and trial
• Handle discovery, including requests for production of documents, depositions, and interrogatories
• Review pleadings, motions, and orders
• Conduct legal research as needed
• Maintain excellent client communication and develop strong relationships with clients and court personnel

What You Need

• Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to the State Bar of Texas
• At least three years of family law experience (We will consider less if you’re exceptional.)

• Follow-up on all overnight or missed calls intercepted by the answering service in a timely manner.
• Promptly follow up with potential clients.
• Maintain attorneys’ schedules and calendars.
• Draft and e-file letters and motions on behalf of attorneys.

Are you a college student looking for a part-time position managing social media?

We are looking for a motivated, dynamic social media intern to join our team. Candidates should be able to work at least 15 hours a week at our busy downtown Fort Worth office. This opportunity is ideal for students or recent graduates in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, advertising or digital media. The social media intern will be responsible for creating social media posts on all platforms, planning social media calendars, and assisting with brainstorming campaigns. The right candidate must be passionate about social media and be able to work as a team, as well as independently. The internship will be in-person with some remote work possible.

Internships offer the opportunity to work with our career trial attorneys and assist clients who are facing the biggest problems in their lives. Outstanding law students and undergraduate students on the pre-law track come to Varghese Summersett for the opportunity to train with our attorneys. Interns perform a variety of tasks ranging from research to assisting with trial prep. We offer paid positions throughout the year. Interns typically work around 20 hours a week during the spring and fall semesters and up to 30 hours a week during the summer.
